Laminating Process Training Guide

1. Preparation

  • Cut the laminate off the back.

  • Remove the backer from the front.

  • Set the old laminate aside.

2. Choosing the Right Laminate

  • Use 1060 laminate for this process.

  • Ensure the laminate is positioned correctly.

3. Removing the Old Roll

  • Pull the pin to remove the old roll.

  • Set the old roll down.

  • Remove the core from the old roll so it can be reused for the new one.

4. Loading the New Laminate Roll

  • Insert the new roll inside the core.

  • Feed the laminate into place.

  • Make sure it locks in correctly—you should be able to feel and hear it click.

  • Place the bar on the roll.

  • Always insert the pin before pulling to prevent the roll from falling.

5. Aligning the Laminate

  • Line up the vinyl edge at 54 inches (or 60 inches if applicable).

  • Match the laminate’s edge with:

    • The edge of the laminator.

    • The alignment mark on the bed.

  • Repeat on both sides to ensure proper alignment.

  • If you see any bunching in the middle:

    • Remove the tape.

    • Reposition the laminate to lay flat and even across the surface.

6. Securing and Running the Laminate

  • Insert the bar that holds the material down.

  • Once aligned, hit RUN to begin laminating.

7. Trimming and Handling the Laminated Material

  • Lightly score the laminate along the seam to separate pieces.

  • When handling material:

    • Lay it flat on the floor.

    • Pinch the edge and carefully carry it to the table.

Trim off any excess laminate to prevent catching in the plotter.
